Microbiote intestinal et émergence de nouvelles représentations du corps : Une approche psychosociale

Abstract

Étant donné l’importance croissante accordée au microbiote intestinal quant à la prévention et aux soins, il semble essentiel d’identifier et d’analyser les modalités de sa mise en représentation dans une démarche psychosociale. Nous proposons en première partie de cet article d’aborder le renouvellement des représentations de la sphère digestive qu’occasionne le discours scientifique sur le microbiote intestinal, essentiellement en ce qui concerne le statut des intestins. Puis, en deuxième partie, nous nous intéressons aux modalités d’appropriation du caractère modulable du microbiote par les choix alimentaires mais aussi par les perspectives thérapeutiques de transplantations et de déprivatisation des matières fécales (notion anthropologique de souillure)

In view of the growing importance attached to the gut microbiota in preventive medicine and treatment, it would seem essential to identify and analyse the modalities of its representation in a psychosocial approach. In the first part of this article, we will discuss the renewal of representations of the digestive tract brought about by scientific discourse on the gut microbiota, mainly regarding the anthropological status of the intestines and faeces. Then in the second part we will focus on ways of taking advantage of the variable nature of the microbiota by food choices, and we will also focus on therapeutic approaches that use transplantations of faecal matter, and the ensuing loss of privacy entailed (an anthropological notion of defil).
